I think some of the show was scripted the last two nights. I have a hard time believing that those people actually thought they could sing for one, and two, I don't think they'd really come on national TV to make a fool of themselves (maybe some of them would, but not all). What do you think?

I agree, I think it's becoming more and more fake. I get the entertainment part of it for us all... But honestly I'd like to hear some people that could really sing that don't look like a serial killer! We didn't get much of that last night in Seattle...

I think part of it is scripted but I also believe that some of the people might think they can sing. What do they have to lose by appearing on AI? Look what happened to William Hung. I think the people at AI purposely look for the weird acts though because it helps with the ratings.

Think some people act. Like that weird Unchained Melody kid. What I don't get is how these people all act upset and leave, but then are singing this compilation of some song the show picks out in a later clip.

I don't think it was scripted, but I definitely think some of the behavior is a total put-on. Some people just want to get on TV, viewers like the parade of freaks, and putting the two together you get the weirdos. It's that simple.

The sad thing is that most of them do think that they can sing. A lot of people with not tell loved one that they suck because they do not want to hurt their feelings. And it has been on for 6 season now.

I think that the contestants fall into a number of categories. A small proportion are serious people whose voices are exceptionally good. A larger proportion of people are either people whose friends have egged them on to perform or they are people who are delusional. Some of them may be trying to out "William Hung" William Hung, seeking their 15 minutes of fame.

Yeah, I think most of them probably lost a bet or something... how can you impersonate the lion from the Wizard of Oz while singing, and expect to be taken seriously?
