If there are any screw heads visible somewhere on the arm rest of the door, or anywhere else on the door on the inside of the car, you could try touching your finger tip to one of them while you get out. I've found that this keeps you grounded and prevents you from getting a static electricity zap when you exit.
There are also strips of rubber that you can buy at the auto parts store that are specifically for this problem. They attach to your car's bumper if it's metal or to the frame if it's not and drag along the ground behind the car, keeping the car from building up a static charge. They're not exactly stylish, but they should work.

Your car is building up a static charge as it moves down the road. What you can do to remove this problem is install a grounding strap to your car. The rubber tires on your car insulates your car and prevents the static from going anywhere. Thats why the moment you step out and your feet touch the ground you instantly get zapped. A grounding strap connects from your car and is long enough to allow the charge to go somewhere.
Check out the link for a more detailed explanation and picture of what a grounding strap looks like.

Yea...i get the same exact thing. But i noticed that when i put my key into my house door after i was in the car, theres a spark of static electricity. Maybe touch your keys to something so that your key takes the shock and you don't?
either way, make sure you get shocked before you pump your gas. that can actually cause an explosion.

Need to chan ge your shoes or just put a plastic floor mat. Becasue when your driving some shoes will make you get static electricity and whenyou get off and get grounded you will feel a shock but changing shoes or floormats will help

Either you have an electric personality (like my boyfriend says...I get shocked all year around every time I get out). Either deal with it, or just get those bumper things. They hang off your rear bumper, and drag on the road to get rid of the static build up.

The same thing happens to me when i am at work or getting out of my car. the best thing to do is to grab your door before you get up, or any piece of metal before you get out of the car.
