Tulane is ranked 44 and will probably only move up a couple of spots, and UT is not very far behind at 47.

When I say better I do mean education wise: professors, number of programs, quality of programs, etc. despite the number/size of the student population..basically my question is where would I get a better education? It's not so much what I make of it as it is about the quality of education given.

Btw, I am planning on majoring in either Biology or doing Nursing.

What do you mean better? What exactly does this mean? Education is what YOU make out of it.

Tulane is probably a better school than UT, but then again, it depends on what you plan on studying and if you plan on going to graduate school. For the sciences and technology, I think UT is better. For the liberal arts, I think Tulane is better. Another issue is that Tulane is a smaller school, with a better faculty:student ratio, a closer-knit community, and a better location of New Orleans is your kind of town. UT is a humongous school with I think about 44,000 students.

At 44 and 47, they are obviously comparable schools in terms of the quality.

It really comes down to the environment that you want. UT is a large public university -- so will offer more choices. Austin is a great city. While there are advantages of being at a bigger school -- it also is a little less personal and you can get lost.

Tulane is smaller and will be more personal. But it is also in New Orleans -- which is not exactly the safest place in the world (though one of the more interesting).

Visit both schools and see where you feel more comfortable. The education will be equivalent -- but the educational experience will be what you make it.

UT is a good school. It is also in a very nice location. I love Austin! It depends on if you want a larger or smaller school. Right now New Orleans is still pretty torn up as well.
