"bush baby". Clearly Simon was ridiculing the appearance of one of the candidates much to the amusement of his co-hosts. I dont know how this kind of trash is tolerated on television.

Whether or not you agree with Simon's evaluation of this young man's physical appearance, is it his role to judge others based on physical appearance and to ridicule them, particularly when they were born that way? I thought this show was about judging one's potential as a singer and entertainer?

To Goose and Tonic: You may well believe that Simon has a "right" to call anyone up on their appearance, however, he as no license to bully individuals and humiliate them about their appearance. There are tactful, professional ways to tell people that their looks are not suited to show business. Only when people in droves confront Simon about his bullying tactics will there be a change in this kind of programming. Yes, you are correct, I can and do change the channel.

1) One's potential as a singer and entertainer has a TON to do with their looks.

2) This is America. Simon has the right to call anyone whatever he wants.

3) Simon has been ragging on people and their looks since the first season. If someone doesn't want to get picked on, they wouldn't go in front of him.

4) No one is forcing you to support a show that you do not like. Stop watching it.

5) Seriously, this is the worst "trash" you could come up with that is on TV? That is pathetic. There are so many worse shows out there like The Girls Next Door, Dirt, Next, Super Sweet 16, CSI, etc.

ADD: I don't believe that Simon has the right, I KNOW it since that is expressly what is stated in our Constitution (ok, Simon isn't an American citizen, but it is happening in America -- hence the name). Simon is not out on the street randomly insulting people... these people come to him and ask for his opinion on their singing and ability to make it in the entertainment industry. No one would watch if his response to Mr. Bug-Eyes was "Well, sir, I do not feel you're right for this show" and moved on. As far as I'm concerned, if you go on American Idol looking like an animal and singing even worse, you get what you deserve. If you don't want to be insulted DON'T AUDITION.

It's all about ratings people love watching others get humiliated for this reason American idols first few episodes are full of losers and we rarely see talented people until later on in the season it's only going to get worse.

They could do an entire season of try outs and Simon being harsh and the ratings would be higher than actual Idol. America loves to see people being mean. Face it some of those people audition so Simon and Randy can be mean. Randy was pretty mean to. I only watch the tryouts.

Because most people don't take the audition part of American Idol seriously. It's all hipe to get people to watch. P.S. The description was correct!

That's show biz! Simon is well paid to be rude and frank with the contestants. If you don't like it, you have a remote to vote with.
