There is a narrow window for those getting in-state tuition, besides living in state! And they must meet other criteria that others do not have to meet! All of them came with their parents when they were children and it isn't like they had some choice where they lived!

Utah needs slave labor as much as California does!

You have to remember that Utah is one of the most conservative states in this planet, with a Republican governor! His view: Governor Opposes Ending In-State Tuition for Illegal Immigrants
January 12th, 2007 @ 11:03am
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Gov. Jon Huntsman said he would oppose a repeal of a law allowing illegal immigrants to pay in-state tuition at Utah's colleges and universities.

"I'm going to fight it," said Huntsman, who added that he would "very seriously consider vetoing" a repeal.

"A 2002 law allows illegal immigrants to pay the lower rate if they graduate from a Utah high school after three or more years there or receive the equivalent of a diploma. Nearly 200 students qualified during the 2005-06 school year."

It does sound a bit... odd. But if you think about it, it will in the long run benefit the people of Utah. The illegal aliens, by going to school, will be contributing $$ to your education system. They probably don't have a whole lot of money, and maybe they wouldn't be able to afford school otherwise. Also, while in school they will enhance their English speaking skills, and gain the real world employment skills they need to succeed. They could become entrepreneurs, providing jobs for the people of Utah. Getting an education and a better job will pull the illegal aliens out of scummy neighborhoods which will reduce the chance of them becoming, for lack of a better word, hooligans.

You will gain from their gain.

Considering if last answer is right and the law is on internet, but did not read but sped read this seems like a very logical and effective way to integrate them into society and culture to insure their particiaption towards the well being of the peoples who gave them a chance.
When the universitys in Utah and every other state give up the federal funds they recieve and just state population pays for all school cost then maybe the state tax payers should get upset.
State of Utah was granted some hundreds of millions for its schools by Fed education Bill, no this is not for students but for study groups with universitys keeping a portion for managing it.
a student who went tow or three years of high school most assuredly had folks working and earnign wages within that state for same length of time.
As a sponsor of immigrants and aquainted with community that does so the children in those latinos familys are also out working to support their familys and to get educated.
Why do immigrants move to UTAH? Does it have any signifigance to the amount of Mormon activity within Mexico?
In all probability it is for an opportunity to get out of grinding poverty and to give ther children better lives.
GIVE THEM AN OPPORTUNITY.
They will pay it back in the future in multiples beyond the cost of edcuation.

To tell you the truth... I care more about the Mexicans than I do the people of Utah. I think the Mexican population would be a grand improvement to what exists there in lieu of humanity as it stands without them!

Personal reasons...

Is this something you heard or do you have proof? I doubt this exists. Unless it is a private school, but then there is not out of state verses in state tuition since private schools do not receive state funds.
