I ask because I'm a 24 year old married woman who's leaving for Hawaii in 2 weeks.

It depends on where you are wearing it. Most schools have banned spaghetti straps because the bra shows. I wear spaghetti straps with my bra showing out with my friends all the time. Sometimes I coordinate colors and sometimes I wear strange combinations. It's what you feel comfortable with. And they do make a few different bras with clear straps if that would make you feel better!

Strapless bras, or I have a convertible bra with clear straps that converts to 5 different styles of tank top so the straps won't show =)

If your dress is form fitting then there is no need for a bra, unless you usually wear padded ones and are trying to keep the faux size look. Even the bras with clear straps in my opinion look tacky. If you need to, try a strapless bra or the variety of bras that stick to your skin without straps (can't think of the name of them).

Hey its better to be wearing a bra and showing the straps than not wearing a bra at all, that would be in poor taste. Tons of girls wear tank tops that show their bra straps, I wouldnt worry about it.

I wouldn't say poor taste. I think it's okay for the younger crowd but for me I prefer tank tops with built in bras. If you need added support just get a strapless or convertible bra. Also--if you are going to wear a tank top with a bra, please make sure the bra is in decent shape. I think in some instances [night time parties] it is okay to wear a cami with a bra IF the bra is fashionable.

Yes, I consider bra straps showing very trashy.
However, you shouldn't have this problem in hawaii.... you shouldn't be wearing bra's in hawaii.... you should be wearing a bathing suit!

You know I don't think so...as long as your bra straps aren't chunky and you might also want the straps to be the same color as your tanktop. Have fun.

You should check out my aunt's store that solves that exact problem: http://strappyart.com. It can look really tacky to have bra straps showing, so she made these cute things to decorate your shirts and keep the bra straps from falling down. :)

It amazes me that what only very common- I guess sort of low-classed- people would do in the past has become somehow fashionable. I guess some celebrities and the loose morals of those who promote fashion trends have made trashy-sl*t style popular, but I still think it comes down to what is appropriate. If you have the decency to ask if something is in poor taste, you probably feel that it is. Yes, I think it is in poor taste. There are other more appropriate, yet fashionable choices that will accentuate your best features and let people know that you are someone interested in projecting yourself with class and self-respect.

I dont think so as long as your bra matches the tank top
(same color). Unless your tank top straps are super super thin, then i would get a strapless bra.
