It is not so simple. Blue giant stars don't last long, so they are usually young, but there are "blue stragglers" in some clusters, and white dwarfs, which can be blue and really old. Stellar evolution is a complex subject.

Blue stars are very violent short living stars. Most stars of this type are found in large collections of loosely bounded young stars. Since they are so hot and so dense, their expected life is very short (in the order of tens or hundreds of million years), and current theories predict that most of them will end their lives as supernova.

Most blue stars only exist 10,000 - 100,000 years, FAR less than the estimated "life" of our sun; so blue stars would be considered "new". Check out this site.
