Well I'm a Guy and have 2 daughters with my oldest going to be 13 and the youngest going to be 6. Years ago it was hard finding out the sex of the baby but the person running the ultra sounds tried very hard for the couple.
With today's ultra sounds and their latest technology, the 3D/4D they can tell with ease. I wouldn't worry about it at all, and I do think your allowed 2 ultra sounds vs the old 1 that we were only allowed years ago.
Tell the person running the Ultra sound that besides your concern with the health issues with the baby, Your second major concern is really knowing its sex and that you really really really want to find this out. Make a hard note of this to that person so they understand this is very important to you and that will give them the incentive to find that info out for you.
I wish you the best of luck in knowing and wish you luck with your new blessing. I hope I was a help to you :)

Our first daughter we couldn't tell at all and the ultrasound was around 22 weeks. She was a lazy baby and didn't want to move lol, so we waited for the surprise! This time around I took some advice and drank some apple juice and had a sugary snack about 30 minutes before check in for the ultrasound. She was wiggling and moving SO much, the tech saw her "stuff" like 6 times and basically guaranteed us it was a GIRL! So, the baby hiding does happen, but try apple juice and a snack and it might help!! Good Luck!!!

With my first child she would not cooperate no matter what we did (19 weeks). I didn't get to find out until I was 30 weeks and had to have a stress test and ultrasound due to decrease in fetal movement.
With my second, she gave us a show, anytime we were looking at her she would open up and give us a peek (21 weeks).
I am 24 weeks with baby #3, and this little one would not budge (18 weeks). I guess I will have to wait and see what happens, maybe just wait for the surprise. I will have shoppers on stand-by.

With my first we went at 18 weeks, they new right away that it was a girl. the second time we were really exited and couldn't wait to find out but she couldn't tell. We found out later that she had just started doing ultrasounds so she really didn't know what she was looking at and she didn't want to guess. i was 19 weeks then. We had to wait in tell 34 weeks to find out we were having another girl! it all depends on how your baby is laying and how experienced the person is that is doing the ultrasound. I hope you get your girl! Every woman needs at least one daughter!

I found out the sex of my son when I was only 13 weeks along. However, girls are the hardest to detect, even in your last month of prenancy because sometimes their thing is hidden.... I've heard SO many stories of doctors proclaiming a child a female and then a little boy pops out! Be patient.... as long as it's healthy, you'll be happy. Best of luck to you and the new baby!!!!!

I had an amnio at 16 weeks. Though we found out we were having a girl at the ultrasound. She felt the need to show us all of her. The amnio was just confirmation.
