Just to add to some of the good answers.
The Buffet at Palace Station is a real bargain at $4 for breakfast(love their waffles) $5 lunch and $6 dinner. A couple of other favorites of mine are the lunch buffets at Main Street Station and Orleans both are right around $8. IMHO the best seafood buffet is the one at Fremont, it's a good deal at $16, I use the 2-4-1 coupon out of the LVA's POV which makes it pretty unbeatable.
A couple of "meal deals" the $4.95 steak dinner at Ellis Island. - the steak and shrimp special at Hard Rock, it's not on the menu you have to ask for it. The "graveyard" specials at Orleans are some of my favorites. At Main Street Staion's 777 Brew Club you can get 16oz micro brews after midnight for $1>777 serves a good steak too.
"Michael H" already mentioned this one, the .99c shrimp cocktail at the Golden Gate is a LV icon , this is a must try. This one has been around for 20 years it seems like. You can say you were in the oldest hotel/casino in LV , the GG has been around since 1906. It's the Feast buffet, the Fiesta(s) are hotels
The $1 hot dog at Slot A Fun has to be experienced at least once, it's the biggest hotdog I have ever seen.
This site has an up to date list of all LV buffets along with a rating for each. And a list of all the "graveyard specials" I would list them, but , there are hundreds. The "Top Ten Values" will have a few of the latest/greatest "meal deals" in LV
http://www.lasvegasadvisor.com >"VEGAS INFO">"buffets" or "graveyard specials" >If you're a bargain hunter, check out the LVA's POV, the $50 Palms coupon alone makes this a good deal, there are 26 2-4-1 buffet coupons and 28 dining coupons plus a hundred or so other show/room/gambling/etc coupons.
Of course the best meal deal in LV is the comped one. If you play make sure you sign up for the slot club. Even if you don't think you play "enough" you might be surprised at the marketing offers you receive. It never hurts(if you were going to play anyway) to play for a little while and then ask at the slot club booth or even better, ask a slot host.
Ask one of the change people if they could send a slot host over, it looks good if you or both of you are sitting at a machine playing, tell the host you are getting hungry and wanted to take a break for a little while, ask if you have played enough to earn buffet/coffee shop comp, whatever you're interested in. I have also found it works better, if you're a couple, that if the slot host is female to have the man ask, if the host is male have the lady in the party do the talking.
The "Golden Rule" of Las Vegas is, "pretty girls rule" . Have the lady do the asking, and in LV they almost always get whatever they ask for(when speaking to a male) and the request is within reason.
Later: My apology to "Gina"(the answer just before mine). I was not trying to steal your thunder the $4.95 steak dinner at Ellis Island is a great deal. Your answer wasn't up yet when I "began" writing mine, yes I'm slow...They(waitress) use to give you a $5 match play coupon also if you ask for it, not sure if they still do that or not. Didn't eat there the last time out(December).

Since Corporate America has taken over Vegas they have gotten rid of all the good deals in town. Cheap buffets, free shows, comped rooms used to be there way to get people into the casino to gamble. Now they figure that everyone is gonna enjoy those things anyway because they have all become famous in there on way. Over night the buffets went to $20+, shows are $100+ and room prices are going thru the roof and rarely comped now. Sniffing out the deals is harder then ever. Your best bet is to hit up downtown or local's casinos. They are the only ones that are keepin' it real.
Here are a few things you can't miss:
99¢ shrimp cocktails at Golden Gate Hotel
Fiesta Buffet at any (Off Strip) Stations Casino
Circus Circus Steakhouse (Even with all the high-end Mega Resort steakhouses that are popping up, Circus still has the cheapest and best tasting)
$1 Footlong Hotdogs at Riviera
Late night coffee shops at El Cortez, Barbary Coast, Binions & Arizona Charlies are still the best around. AC's still has 7 items after midnight for 77¢ each!
Also, if your gambling the drinks are free all night, but if your not there are still 2 places on the Strip with $1 & $2 drinks - Casino Royale or O'sheas is the place to be!
Good Luck & have fun!
- Hustla' Mike (Workin' this town over, so you don't have to!)

Vegas has anything everywhere for whatever is in your budget. All of the casnios have some kind of buffet its usually what you want to eat? Most do advertising outside -- if you walk around you will see -- more bigger name attractions/ sights were expensive--- ask prices before ordering drinks especially...the biggest way to save a buck is to ask when is happyhour and if food is offered. Vegas is not a place to plan at unless its for a show or etc. just remember anything goes in Vegas.

Every time I am in Las Vegas, I go to the Ellis Island Casino. It is a little hole in the wall on Koval lane .(off the strip, behind the Paris hotel)They have a 24 hour 10 oz. steak special ( for only $4.95) that comes with soup or salad ,baked or mashed potato, rice or fries, and the best fresh garlic green beans you've ever tasted! This special is not on the menu...just ask for the 'steak special'.

I've tried a lot of buffets, but so far, the best I've found is at Monte Carlo. Sorry, no 99 cent buffets.
As for bargains, there's Giovanni's Pizza at Eastern & Warm Springs--great lunch specials and the best pizza I've found since moving here.
PT's bar/pub has $3.95 burger specials during weekday lunch, includes fries & drink--huge! and really good.
And then there's Lucille's BBQ at the DISTRICT.

The Barberry Coast on the Strip has a great Steak Special...$8.99 for a great quality steak with all the sides....I don't hunt for the bargains like I used too, but I always stop there when I am in town just cause of the quality of the meal!

there are a lot of buffets in the hotels, how cheap is cheap ? how many in your party ? call the hotel where you will be staying and ask them to fax you their restaurant guide in the area....you can call ahead for prices I recommend getting them take out and then you and your hubby can dine alone one night
