I know nothing about this stuff. Is one generation better than another? I'm thinking 1gb is good, for my budget. Suggestions PLEASE!

If you can afford it go for the big one. At least do the 1 gig..

Ipod Nano 2nd Generation, 2 Gigabyte.

The Shuffle is nice (1 gigabyte) but it doesn't allow you to set up playlists to play specific songs. It just "shuffles" everything you load into it and plays it randomly.

I'd also recommend a decent set of In-ear headphones for him as well like the V-moda Vibe.

Together that'll put your budget at around $250.00. ($150.00 for Nano, $85-100.00 for the Vibes)

1GB will only be available on IPOD shuffle, which is the very very basic model which you can't browse tru the database for files and playlist. try get at least an Ipod Nano with higher storage capacity.
(Ipod shuffle makes a good gift if your husband already own one higher range ipod, it makes a good companion for jogging and gym, it's so tiny tht you won't feel the existence.)

srry but 1gb will get you the shuffle and those pretty much suck...u should consider gettin the nano in 4gb, which holds 1,000 songs and costs about 200 bucks....hope ur husband likes the gift! as an extra...u should add a couple of his favorite songs or your guys' song to it before u give it to him.

Get him an IPOD Nano 4gb. 1gb won't do.
