The Atlantic jetstream is at the moment focused directly on the UK. This very strong wind (like a flowing river of air) runs high in the atmosphere, and is strongest in winter. It pushes air across the Atlantic from the USA to Europe.
Relatively warm air in the mid-Atlantic has made storms that started off in the east coast of the USA get stronger before reaching the UK. This season, the jetstream has been unusually powerful and fast.

The move of trains by the narrow tunnels. The practice acts like a piston and pushes the air out in the front of it into the station at severe %, causing a 'windy' result around the stations.

The weather goes round in cycles, we have been having a moderate spell at present, but when I was a boy, each year we had lots of snow and ice, but also hot summers, don't worry the U.K. doesn't have great weather fluctuations, and don't believe all you hear about global warming, most of it is just a political ploy to tax the nation, We know what you are up to Mr Brown!!!!!

170 km an hour, I don't think so. 70 MILES PER HOUR, yes.
This is called normal winter weather. We just like to get excited when it blows a gale.
Maybe you weren't around on 16th October 1987. Now that really was a windy day.
