Not too!
But if you must get a very thick needle 16 to 18 gage (those are small), alcohol for an antiseptic, Ice cubes for numbing, and o cork for positioning, and a marker with fine tip, and the ring you want to use 16-18 gage,oh yeah have a really trust worthy friend on stand by to help.

Well, sorry that's what I'm going to tell you. Wise up.
If you'd have seen what I've seen come in the Emergency room after doing this to themselves, you would go to a professional and pay a few bucks.
The chance of infection is too great ANYTIME you go thru your skin, anywhere on your body.
One girl ended up in surgery. Her belly button area got red, then swollen like a baseball with pus running out of it. She had fever and had to be rushed to surgery.
It took months to heal, [mostly because she's a smoker and they don't have as good a blood supply so they heal slower, and just because it was a large wound]
she had to be on several antibiotics and wasn't able to go to her classes, so she missed a lot of school. Has a ton of medical bills.
Then, instead of having a cute belly button, you'll have huge ugly scars there.
We also saw a young girl who had her upper ear pierced in the mall.
Her ear was a big, dark purple mass the size of a large golf ball. She was in so much pain. She had to have surgery too and part of her outer ear cut off.
If you do it yourself, which is foolish, then look it up online.
Good luck!

I am not sure where to find the needle, I think it has a hollow center and is special for piercing. You must have a very strong pain tolerance, or else have someone else do it for you. I do not understand why you want to do it yourself? Is it because you are underage? I have not heard of people piercing the naval being popular anymore, isn't kinda outa style?

I have had mine done like 5 yrs ago and it didn't hurt that bad but you need a professional to do it !
It cost me 35 bucks in NYC and make sure you get the bar and NOT the ring !

i have $20 that says if you do it yourself you end up getting a bad nickel reaction, the hole will become infected as the scab closes around the ring and will now allow you to remove it causing you to go to the hospital and have it removed surgiclly.

I know its not the answer you want, but take it from a girl with her belly-button pierced - Pay the $40 and have someone do it for you!!!! It's a lot worse than piercing your own ears......its bearable, dont do it yourself!
