The oil is actually leaking (while the car is being driven) from the engine head! The mechanics are suggesting that the engine requires a complete overhaul with rings and pistons repaired! Is that correct or is there a cheaper fixing solution?

First of all, there is no such thing as a classic Kia, especially a 2000 model. Secondly, those cars are known as disposable cars. The cheapest thing is to buy a new car. Sorry for the bad news but to get the work done, you are looking at about $1500.

WTF! why would they suggest an engine rebuild? lol. Some techs really don't make any sense. If the leak is indeed from the head then you have a cracked head. In which case itwould be easier to just got a junkyard motor and throw that in there. OR you can just replace the head. There is no need to touch the bottom end. Go somewhere else b/c they seem pretty shady to me. They should have given u options!! there are always options!
