I live just east of Nashville and can tell you it's not a problem to plant them now. You can actually plant them in May if you are willing to store them in your fridge to trick them into "wintering" . They are plants, not that hard to outsmart. I actually planted some tulip bulbs on Jan. 1st.

If the ground is not frozen you can still plant spring bulbs. They will bloom later, but you can still enjoy them!

I've planted spring bulbs as late as Christmas Day, by shoveling off the snow cover and lifting the leaves to find unfrozen soil.

The only problem you might have is how good the bulbs are still... if the bulbs were in the stores in the fall, they may already be sprouting or withered and might not set roots or bloom very well if you plant them in the ground.

You can try forcing them indoors if the bulbs have been in a cool place for a few months, like your garage. Set them in a tray filled with an inch or so of pebbles, water the bulbs and put them in a cool dark place until the bulbs sprout and send up flower stalks. Then give them warmth and full sun until they blossom.

I would personally wait until next fall, my tulips and daffodils are already up and we live in Tennessee on the Cumberland Plateau.
