i know nslookup is use to lookup dns infomation,but why and when we have to do this?

Under normal circumstances you don't, but sometimes you might need to identify who really owns a web page or find the IP address corresponding to a URL.

Most people don't have to do it.

It's there for people that work in webhosting and use domain names etc. Mainly used by domain registrars to determine who currently owns a domain and where the nameserver that handles it is operating.

It's similar to a traceroute!
