Absolutely don´t fly into Ft. Lauderdale. The closest and best served airport to Daytona Beach is Orlando (MCO). Flying to Orlando is actually better than flying to Daytona itself even if Daytona is your final destination. This is because you can find more flights and cheaper fares into MCO. Orlando MCO is less than an hour drive to Daytona Beach whereas Ft Lauderdale is a 3 1/2 hour drive.
When I lived in Orlando Southwest always had the best fares, you should check with them at http://www.southwest.com/.

Orlando is good, but Daytona has an airport - very nice too! Don't know if there are directs from Cleveland. Otherwise Orlando is the closest - I live here and go to New Smyrna Beach (just south of Daytona) twice a month.

no no no... Ft. Lauderdale is hours south of Daytona. The Orlando International Airport (MCO) is MUCH closer. My husband and I spent a portion of our honeymoon in New Smyrna/Daytona and we flew into MCO and then drove. Its about an hour to an hour and a half's drive to Daytona.
Besides, MCO is the nicest airport in the nation. You'll really enjoy flying into MCO.

Daytona Beach does have anice aiport and they've expanded a lot of service. I know Delta flies there from Atlanta and NYC. I believe US Airways has just added service too. They each have three flights a day

It would be closer if you fly into Orlando Airport.
