I trully dont understand.

Does it have anything to do with me having 20/20 vision and therefore not seeing the refraction of light that sparkles off it?

or am i missing something?

Diamonds are beautiful, but just the thought of how Africans work so hard in search for them, makes me sad. Africans live in poverty while the diamonds they find are sold for thousands to wealthy people. It just doesn't make sense!

It simply because they're expensive. Society tells them that it's worth a lot, so they want it.

Diamonds aren't even rare. They are VERY common in certain areas of South America and Africa. But the DeBeers family controls ALL of the diamond trade. They only release so many a year to dealers; dealers that have agreed not to buy diamonds from anyone else.

Have you ever tried to sell back diamond jewelry? It's like trying to sell back a car! You won't get back nearly as much as you paid for it because the dealers know that it's really nothing more than a very pretty rock.

Diamonds are like fur. Even though there are plenty of good alternatives (some of which look just like the real thing, and some of which are better), people want them mearly so they can say that they have something totally expensive and utterly useless. It's the poster child of consumerism.

Personally, I'd rather have my birthstone, a rhinestone, or something in my favorite color.

The sparkliness *is* attractive. I'm like a magpie and very often get distracted by "something shiny". To quote rich nightclub owner and drug dealer Conchita Hernandez, who saves money not by putting it in a bank but converting it into diamonds "It's over 5 million dollars. All hard and shiny".

No...people are like diamonds because like diamonds, people are multi-faceted. What this means is that people have many sides to them. Some you see, some you don't...it also means that also like people, no two diamonds are just alike. You can cut two diamonds exactly the same way, but their internal structures are still fundamentally different.

Diamonds have always been admired and worn by the very powerful and very wealthy. For as long as history can record them. It is a status symbol. Have you ever heard the saying, "It's not the steak, it is the sizzle". I like to think it is not the diamond that people like so much as what they think it does for their ego.

U know what?? I think diamond are cool. But the main reason that peple like diamond is not that they sparke (um, yeah the do sparkle) but its because theres a social opinion that diamonds are sophisticated, for one thing its just the price of it, and because a diamont is a diamont.

People like diamonds because they are pretty, and sparkly. If you are ever in trouble with your girl a good way to get out of the fight, if there is no other way is to give her a diamond. I know I love diamonds. Can never have enough!!!!!!

Personally, I wear diamonds on my bellybutton ring only because they look nice but they're fake. As for rings, necklaces, or earrings, I don't do diamonds. If I ever get married my wedding ring will have one only because of tradition.

Diamonds are special. To a girl, it means EVERYTHING to have a diamond necklace or a diamond ring. If you gave a girl some type of diamond, she would love you forever.
Do you get my point? Diamonds are precious treasures.
