I recently purchased an item which required delivery by a courier. It was delivered via the backyard door which is always locked when I was at work and was left in the yard.
When I returned home I found the package, but also found that the door to the yard had been forced, damaging the surrounding brickwork connected to the door frame.
The door will not lock. I rung the courier and they told me the driver found the door in this state when he delivered the parcel which I find coincidental and he denies any wrong doing.
If it was not him, then why would someone else when they can jump over the wall with little problem, and also, why leave the parcel in the yard if the door was already in this state when there policy is not to leave items that are in an unsecured enviroment. Please help if you can. I know I need proof that he actually did this but it all seems very coincidental to me.

You need to report a case of Criminal Damage to the Police, tell them who you suspect & why and ask them to investigate = I doubt anything will happen, but who knows and you need the Police 'URN' (Ref No.) for the Insurance ....

In the mean while you might look at your house insurance policy (chances are that even if you are covered they will have an 'excess' on all claims, but again, who knows).

Did the parcel have to be signed for. If so the courier is out of order anyway and compensation can be sought as they broke their own guidelines . I would suggest that the situation points to the possibility that the courier in a fit of temper not able to get a signature for the item kicked the door in . Not certain but possible and worth reporting to the police as they are obliged by law to question the courier. PS do not take no for an answer if the local police do nothing write to the Chief Constable or the police ombudsman

to ups and fed ex: what is the cost of doing business? since both companies control 95% of worldwide deliveries the policy is leave it in an UNSECURED spot. if stolen or liars say it was stolen the cost is1/100,000 of 1% . " the cost of doing business." in small claims court a coincidence is 20%. you need at least 1/2 to win....
