I plan on upgrading to Windows Vista Home Premium. I currently have a stock video card - the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 - and I'm pretty sure that's not gonna cut it for Home Premium. I want to get a new card for my PCI-E slot and I'm wondering what's out there for around $100 or less that will be good for Home Premium. Suggestions?

Assuming you wont do much gaming (which I think is a fair assumption since you've been using the GMA 950), anything in the $75-$100 price range with 256 MB of video RAM will work very well for you with Vista. You will be able to use all the new fancy 3D effects if you want to. Be sure that your CPU is also up to snuff. Check out the link below for cards that will work for you.

My suggestion is to not put vista on there and use the money for a better video card. To truly take advantage of vista premium you would need a DX10 card which is still very pricey. There are still too many issues with vista, but if you insist, check out this card.

256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™bypass 7300 TurboCache might want to artwork in basic terms high-quality, and also you'll also locate out what works with vista at microsofts website. There are some good laptops out now that are vista properly matched, be confident to study with the seller and see if that is vista waiting earlier you purchase.

Under $100 you are probably looking at either the nVidia 7300 series or the ATI X1600/X1300 series cards - both with 256mb of memory on board.

For 100$ you won't get much, so I would suggest nothing less than this card --> GeForce 7600 GT PCI-E 256MB
