All these guys in my office complain about their wives complaining to them about World Of Warcraft. The wives call themselves Warcraft Widows or WoW Widows. I can see why the wives get irritated. Ever since that expansion pack came out and even before, these dudes at work just go on and on and on about WoW. It irritates the crap out of me. Anyone else heard of WoW widows or sick of hearing about WoW?

Here is a cool article about WoW addicts:

My husband gets to be a Warcraft Widower sometimes. But he doesn't mind, he's got plenty of things to occupy himself with when I play. I certainly don't get into it to the extent that boys do. But yeah, it WOULD be pretty annoying to hear your husband and his buddies on Ventrillo every night, killing Onyxia over and over... How many times can you kill one damn dragon???

The article was great, by the way. I was a WoW widow until one day, I just sat down next to my husband and said, "so how do you play this?" Six months later, I'm a level 55 Shaman, he's a level 60 Warrior and we are looking forward to reaching level 70 (thanks to the Expansion) together. It is seriously addicting though, and I don't know why. Now, even when I dream, I dream about WoW.

I had a couple of friends who said they were WoW widows and I asked them if they had tried it themselves. When they said no, I told them to make an attempt to see what it was all about.

Every one of them now has a schedule with their husbands, just like I do with mine, as to who gets the computer to play WoW at what time. We all have made sure that we get equal time to play, but we also make REAL sure that we have time to spend with spouses, children, family, and friends outside the game.

I freely admit that I'm hooked. Blizzard is set to take over the world and I'm happy to let them! So long as it doesn't interfere with MY time on the computer!!

So don't listen.
Go do your work.

There are football widows, and car-repair widows and just about everything else you can imagine. I bet these "widows" watch their share of television.

Maybe if their wives would STFU and play along with them, they'd find out why this interesting and challenging passtime is so attractive.

I'd rather hear guys go on and on about their last dungeon run, or the new challenges in Outlands, than hear you and your pals go on about "Survivor" or "American Idol"

To each his own. Why don't you just mind your own business?

Yes, I've heard of WoW widows - analagous to football widows, fishing widows etc. And yes, I can understand why they get irritated. OTOH I can't say I don't like WoW addicts because I are one. :)

I have heard of Westpac widows. My bro-in-law was in the Navy. Alot of the wives acted like they were single when the hubbies were away.

I think the women should suck it up, at least their hubbys arent out cheating on them. If the worst thing they are doing, is playing a game...then it is really not that bad. My husband plays Gears of War on XBOX 360, a lot, and I now play with him, and it is really fun!

my husband played it at his buddies house one night to see what all the fuss was about. he didn't like it as much as his friends did. he would rather watch extreme makeover:home edition and play with my daughter.

i feel sorry for the women who have to deal with that stupid game taking over the brains of their once attentive husbands

My b/f played it and was not all that impressed. He has his time on the PC and I don't feel neglected. I play my DS while he plays the PC, or I read, I don't depend on him to entertain me.
