surface area of a cylinder =

s = 2 π r² + 2 π h

s = 2(3.141592654)(12)² + 2(3.141592654)(29)

s =6.283185307(144) + 6.283185307(29)

s = 904.7786841 + 182.2123739

s = 1086.991058 square millimeters

The answer is 1087 square millimeters rounded up

- - - - - - - - - s-

R = 12

Therefore It's diameter = 2 x 12 = 24 mm

C = pi x d

C = 24 x pi

C = 24pi

I'll leave it as the symbol pi just to make the coherence easier.

If you unrolled the cylinder it would resaemble a flat rectangle, plus 2 circles so the C will equal the length, and the height will be the height.

So A = l x h + 2(pi r^2)

A = 24pi x 29 + 288pi

A = 984pi

If you are looking for an accurate answer then...

A = 3091.327171 mm^2

Hope this helps

The surface area is going to be the area of the side, plus the top and bottom. The top and bottom are just circles, so their area is each Pi*(r^2), or 144*pi. The surface that curves around is the circumference of one of the cirlces, times the height. So this is (2*pi*r)*h = 2*pi*12*29 = 696pi.

Add them together and you get 144pi + 144pi + 696pi = 984pi square millimeters.
