Long ago, in a world far away; there lived a band called The Grateful Dead. Their followers were known as Dead Heads. True Dead Heads lived in old school buses and sold tie dye tshirts to get money to "follow" the band. Some times they sold drugs like LSD which heightened the "Dead" experience. Dead Heads were known for their Tie Dye. Shirts, pants, baby onsies...You name it. The band's leader was the late Jerry Garcia. They were a big influence on the band Phish.

Deadheads are fans of the 60's and 70's rock band the Grateful Dead. And those bands' groupies aren't any weirder than today's groupies. They still had lots of sex and did lots of drugs then too!

They are fans of the group Grateful Dead. Considering the time that they were popular, the groupies weren't really all that weird.

The Grateful Dead were a band that toured in the 70s and early 80s. They had a following of devout fans...they were called Dead Heads...basically because they followed the Grateful Dead (the Dead part), and most were generally stoned out of their minds (heance the Head part)...

Oh my word, now I feel old. You've never heard of the Grateful Dead? Indeed, a Dead Head is a fan of the GD, but I don't think that some of the desriptions given are appropriate. I consider myself a Dead Head and I did't partake in much of what as been suggested.

I do have tie dyed shirts in my drawer though!

its more referring to groupies that followed the band called
the Greatful Dead, thats where "Dead Head" comes from
the majority of these people were extremely into Greatful Dead
music, followed them around, experimented in lots of drugs,
dressed very hippy like, and it was actually an entire sub culture
for a while
