If you could provide a map of these places, that would really help!

The resort town of Puerto Plata is on the North coast of the Dominican Republic, approximately 300 miles from Punta Cana.

I don't have a good map of Puerto Plata, but I have a great map of Punta Cana. I've pasted the link for you, below.

Hope this is helpful.

Puerto Plata is towards the NW while Punta Cana is on the eastern coast of the country. Take a look at this link and it'll help you out. Note that Punta Cana is mainly a Resort town.

I would say its like anywhere btwn a 8-12hr car drive. Higuey is @ 30 min drive to Punta Cana. Higuey is known for 'La Basilica de Altagracia'.
