i know for now we "need" eachothers crap, but why cant be all develope our own means of everything, so we never need to rely on anybody. Why we kill all these people to defend another country is beyond me. If you live in america you should stay and defend here. If you live in china you should stay and defend there. Why is it that all our countries have to get involved with one another SURE it would be just wonderful if we could all get along but its never going to happen. it never has, and 99% chance it never will. If the president cared so much about iraq and wanted to change peoples lives in other countries, while our people go to ****, then why didnt he run for office in some other country. if people in ethiopia are starving, stop breeding and raising kids into a starving world, it would then eventually cease to exist with no breeding. It just pisses me off that we still dont have running water everywhere in america but oh we need to go and worry about iraqis

I think you are OH so RIGHT!

Whats the definition of a good neighbor? I think it is someone who takes care of his/her family and home. They take care of their own yard, house, and family. They are available if a neighbor needs a hand, but in general they keep to themselves.

Papeverso..

Better check your history... China invaded Vietnam in or around 1980. Who helped the N. koreans in the early 50's?

That is probably the most truthful thing I've heard all day.
Problem is everybody is too used of the way things are; U.S. tries to police the world...Ethiopians don't use birth control...etc.
I wouldn't be surprised if you got alot of nasty answers from the American folks on here. It seems most are definitely United.
If every country could Mind It's Own Business for once none of the crap that is happening would be.
I believe everyone starts out with good intentions but along the way those intentions get blown way out of proportion.
I certainly hope there is a peaceful future but I think things are going to get worse first.

Alias Smith & Jones...

Canada is doing mighty fine for itself...oil, fresh water, Softwood, empty space...etc.
A giant wall could be erected around Canada and it would thrive for centuries.

You need to take a basic economics course. Countries CAN'T develop their own means of everything. Look up Ricardo - his theories lay out why interdependence is good overall.

If you're talking about why countries interfere with each other's military and political affairs, then yes, you have a fair and debatable point. But don't mix that up with trade and economics.

[ADDED] You can't post the screed and expect everyone to genuflect, you selfish little twit. Since your post shows that you don't know jack shite, you'd better know that people will damn well take you to school.

LOKI - Canada is tightly and intricately integrated into the world economy. Try looking at some trade stats.

Nice post, ashley. And I sympathise.
Trouble is, countries are like humans: they like to make friends, the more the merrier. Which creates trouble with the countries they're not friends with, which leads to hatred and war.
Another problem is countries are interdependent on one another, usually for trade, but increasingly for natural resources like oil.
And if somebody won't give them any oil, or gas, or water, they're gonna take it, and to hell with the consequences.

China has, to date... Never sent troops out to any other country for military action.

What are you going on about...?

It has more to do with commerce than anything else... The fight for one country to be better and less dependent on any other for finances and natural resources. China is in the process of destroying itself in the race to one up and be greater than the USA.

The USA is in debt to more countries than is in debt to us right now so we have to poke our noses in, to collect and secure resources and we have always bullied people for these reasons through wars and policing actions.

G.W. Is just the first President in history to make such an obvious *** of himself doing it. All of the others in history used things like the guise of patriotism and the backing of the people through media and manipulation and tricked them into believing that it was their idea and a good thing for the benefit of everyone... Bush isin't that intelligent so he just outright lied for a lack of anything more creative or intelligent. One would think that Daddy would have helped him out a little more in the sneaky manipulative dept?

Sigh... I miss the Kennedy administration. I like my dellusions in style and with a little more class.
