Maybe in the imaginations of humans but that's about it..I've heard of some people saying that fairies exist and will only appear to you if you believe in them ..but who knows right?

What evidence is there of their existence? Start with that. Some will point to different cultures having similiar stories about dragons or whatever, but that is not proof of existence. Proof would be finding a specimen and being able to document its existence thru photo or video or observation of a reliable witness. The observation thing is kind of dodgy though because of the reliable witness. A reliable witness is hard to find. It would be like a biologist spending time documenting the animals and even then that may not be too good of evidence because it is always possible the biologist was lying or insane or under the influence of something. The best evidence would be a captured animal, dead or alive. None of this has happened in the area of these mythical creatures. Science cannot spend time believing in these things until there is proof of existence. If it did, then anytime someone made up an animal science would have to believe in it.
Some will point to the fact that people did not believe in gorillas until one was captured. That is not a good argument for believing in unicorns. It is a great argument for believing in gorillas.

Every legend is based in some kind of fact, dragons go back to dinosaurs, elves and dwarves could be midgets who were blamed for unlucky events, etc. Although most, if not all, of the original bases for these creatures are now gone, extinct, and/or forgotten, the legends still live on, making us wonder if they just might have a little more truth to them than is generally given.

Some people believe their spirit creature is one of these mythical animals. My daughters is a unicorn. Some people think they exist on another plane.

If anything dragons are the most likely to have existed. Not saying they could breath fire...but I can see it being some thing that used to be around.

Did you know that the animal unicorn was actually referenced in the Bible as one of the creatures that Noah did not get onto the ark in time? Peace, love, and joy to you!

Oh yes and fairies too that turn themselves into animals. It's what adventures you allow your mind to follow.
