Turn the printer off and unplug it from the computer and from the electrical source and let it sit for up to 30 minutes. Then, plug it back in and restart the computer. If it's a Canon, it could take up to 24 hours. Windows should recognize the printer next time.

Make sure your plugs are in completely and correctly. Depending on the type of plug your computer might have a little picture of a printer where the plug should be attached. If your printer came with a disk, use it; your drivers may need to be updated.

open control panel and select printers and faxes in the left printer taks clikc add a new printer and use the wizad to install the printer using the printer disk.
If the printer not works in the following step reinstall your operating system and install the printers software in it.i think there is some problems in yours first installation of the printer...

Did you just get the printer? or have you used it before if you already used it and its not detecting it try turning off your computer for a minute and starting it back up.if you just got it and hooked it up and its not working its probably not compatible with you computer.I would take it back and get one that's more compatible.

need more info. what does it say? when u connect the printer does it say in lower right hand corner "New HardWare found"?
