the most successfully U boat commander is Otto Kretschmer with a grand total of 208 954 ton ships sunk and 3 auxiliary warship's and 1 war ship.
He became to getter with 40 men of his crew ( total of 43 ) prisoner of war in 1941 but his record was never beaten .
