How suitable are the smart phones? Can you really get all the capabilities of a normal PDA on a smart phone?

Smartphones are pretty neat because they can do every thing in one package. However, they tend to be less powerful than a dedicated PDA. I personally have a PDA and a cell phone and I like the arrangement I have. If I ever lost or broke my PDA, i'd still have my cell phone, whereas if I lost or broke my smartphone, well now I don't have either.

My recommendation? If you care about power then get separate devices. If you want convenience, get the smartphone.

Okay I had a dell axim for years. Plus my Verizon cell. I'm a field service tech, and it just gets really annoying carrying around both. I have a Samsung I 730 I picked up off of Craig's List for like 150.00 brand new. I does everything, and it saves space. Smart phones are wonder full for biz., school, etc. But if you don't need to use it all the time then don't get it. Plus you need to look at contract differences. i had to up mine because the wireless uses minutes. I think it would be a waste of money if you not going to be using all of the palm OS or windows mobile programs. But i have to admit my life has gotten allot easier since getting mine. Once you get used to the whole functionality of the device you should be good. Shop around and compare. I did for like 5 months before I got mine and I found everything I needed that fits my life style Good luck.
