No not at all. The whole pregnancy probably won't seem real until your in the hospital holding your precious new daughter.

do u mean 23 weeks pregnant, or aged 23??? I ubderstand how u feel, im 22 weeks, had the scan and still sometimes it doesn't feel real, i feel detached from it all, if u know what i mean. I am worried about the bonding issue and just hope that when it gets bigger and I feel it moving more (i can't feel it that much at mo) things will change. I do understand u, u are not alone.

Dawn, u are sooo right

Absolutely not. For my ENTIRE pregnancy, I never felt excited about having a baby. Don't get me wrong, I wanted a baby, but I didn't have that feeling that you hear women talking about.

I had friends who gushed about how having a baby was their purpose in life and made them happier than anything that had ever happened to them.

I didn't feel that way I wondered if there was something wrong with me. With the birth of my daughter, I still waited for the feeling to come. It didn't. I would hold her in my arms and actually think "Where are her real parents?" I just didn't have that connection to her. But, don't be scared. It will come. When she was 2 months old and I was bathing her, she looked up and smiled and I knew that I loved her.

Talk about your feelings with people and know that there is nothing wrong with you. If you don't feel like you can talk to your family (I couldn't talk to mine without them yelling at me) there are support groups to help you. Always know that there are other people who have felt the same way and will be happy to help you. Eventually you will love her and feel excited by her presence.

Congratulations.

I have a 1 month old and it still doesn't seem real to me sometimes. I have to agree with what Dawn said. Not everyone has those fuzzy feelings of being a mother at first. So don't be shocked if it takes a little while. Congrats and good luck!

I knew I was pregnant, felt him move, and delivered my son. I was happy when I learned I was pregnant yet after I delivered my son I was so tired that I went to sleep and still when I woke up and saw him in my arms I jumped in fear and almost dropped him because it still was not real to me. Everyone is different and you can't compare yourself to others. There is nothing wrong with you. You will be where you need to be when the time comes.

my little boy is 4 months old.. and to tell you the truth... sometimes i still dont think its real. it gets a little better when you finally get to see their beautiful face and hold them for the first time... but i'm still in shock that i'm a mother. i dont think it ever feels real, but i think it just grows on you. Good Luck and have fun. i've had a ball watching my son for the last few months.

About 2 days ago was the first time I said in our couples prayer (something my husband and I do) that I was grateful for this child growing in me. I don't know why, but it hit me really hard when I said it, like I finally got it that there really is a little one inside me.

Pretty amazing.

I'm 22 weeks with my little boy and as many times as I've heard his heartbeat, seen and felt him squirming, i still find myself saying oh my god! I'm pregnant! If I happen to catch my reflection I'll stop and stare and I just can't believe it. So sounds normal to me.
