ive been with my partner for 11 years, we have 3 wonderful children.who we love dearly. We also have a morgage and we are trying hard to get towards the house of are dreams.in my eye we are already married. He is into marriage and the oldest would like us to get married,( allthough he has never asked me) although i do belive in marrage, i dont like the idea of me doing it i mean if i ever did i would have to do it around the family and the thought of it scares me. i would just die of embarrisment, and of course theres the money side of things. so what would you do or what did you do help

The first thing i think of when thinking about me getting married is that i'll get to wear a fab dress and look all pretty for the day! and the next thing is the party afterwards!.. oh and of course showing my love for my man and making the ultimate commitment. I get nervous as hell thinking about the church bit and i know i will panick and possibly hate having to stand there in front of everyone and do that bit.,. but really its just one big party and you looking pretty!

You've been with him for 11 years, and you are living in a marital type situation, so why does it scare you? Or is it that being the center of attention scares you? You can have a small family only wedding, which wouldn't cost a whole lot of money, or just go to the justice of the peace, take just the kids, which would really be inexpensive! You don't have to invite the family if you don't want to.

I fully understand what you are saying I am in the exact same situation everyone but me wants us to get married I would just be far too embarrassed being the centre of attention I have explained this to everyone concerned and the nagging has stopped even my Dad

WHAT? Is it "Marriage"? You've been together 11 years, had three childern and you are scared of a wedding ceremony? Come on, really? Get over yourself. If you want to get married do it, otherwise don't, why the big deal.

if ur both happy the way ur dont get married or if u do want to get married but worried about being embarresed have a small gathering i,e ur kids n parents it does,nt have to be flash or even maybe ahve a blessing Good luck

I would marry the guy... For goodness sakes you have been together for 11 years now so why not make that life long commitment and make it legal!

Just get married if you want to ,you dont have to ,why dont you have a small ceromony with just a couple of witnesses if you are shy, but why are you so shy ,they are the people that love you ,good luck in what you decide to do xxx

Get married. There are all so many benefits if you are married. If there are LEGAL decisions that MUST be made it is much more easier to make if you are married to each other versus living together.

Marriage will ensure that you get pension rights from his pension should he die. You can inherit what he leaves without fear of some relative trying to push you out.

Why don't you arrange for a quiet wedding in a registry office, just you, your partner and your children. Would be nice and private and quiet for you.
