.. that he / she is not a lover / spouse and only a friend. I sometimes really feel that such a statement ( the one above) is an insult on "friendship" to some extent. Don't you think so ? Well you see marriages break (quite often in the western world), lovers just forget each other after some sex and also ditch their lover/s sometimes. But some friendships last for one's lifetime...yes those I think are true friendships...thru thick & thin, which are hard to find these days !!! You see your family members and even your close relatives can be your good friend/s. My father has always been my friend besides being my loving dad. Yes all dads are not like that I know. I also know most things in life are relative. I hope I can get some good answers.

Well people refer to you as being "just" a friend, it is not a put down on friendship. They are simply making the clarification to whomever that the relationship does not include sex, marriage or etc. Many people assume that when a male and female spend time together it means that their is a sexual side to their relationship. Although sometimes true, men and women can be "just friends" and yes, that relationship can last a lifetime. Enjoy your friendship and don't be so fussy about semantics.

Where is the question in that? Are you just asking for people to agree with you? What a dope.

If you think about it, people tend to say "Oh, she's just a friend" when they are talking about someone to their friends. My friends have all said that; for me, it's a surefire way to say that their bangin on. I've used it before when I've just been seeing someone. It's not an 'insult' on friendship at all. It's just in life people crave for love more than a friendship, because everyone will have friends during their lifetime.

"Just a friend" only refers to the relationship, not the friendship. It merely indicates that they are not intimate freinds. Fatherly love is a whole different ballgame. That love is the purist of all loves if not abused.
