Liberals look at thinks in one view. They never look at the big picture. For many things they say what was done was racist and unfair but they never look at what could have happened if this had not been done. One example is Mccarthyism. All liberals see it as unfair but they do not understand how communism destroyed Russia and China. Please people give me your opinion. None of this liberals aren't narrow minded stuff!

Liberals believe in Government control. Liberals believe they can take care of you better than you can. Liberals have tunnel vision. Conservatives just gave up the Congress and the House because of being open minded. Liberals would not be there if it were not for Conservatives putting them there due to the Republican party moving out into never never land. So what do they do? They are like ants that have their nest overturned and are running around to no place in particular trying to find a new place to live. True Conservatives go about their business and run the countries econmomy. Liberals step on everyones foot to stop them from accomplishing something without the Liberal letting them. Socialism? Hey thats worked hasn't it? FDR Democrats are few and far between. To bad, they could really help us right now becuase t he republicans are shooting themselves in the foot. By the way, why must Liberals swear all the time when they are trying to make a point? Conservatives have a hard time relating to that type of argument.

YAWN. I'm not narrow minded. Narrow minded to me means status quo, and I think that's what the problem is between cons and libs. Many people fear change and don't like the thought of losing their nice, safe little nook. Even if the change means a nice safe larger nook. They'd rather have what they know so they know what to expect. A little of that is healthy, a lot causes rigidity and yes, narrow mindedness. Put some change in there and they can't handle it. So they band together to keep things the same and chase the dissenters out. Liberals look to taking care of everyone and most accept change even if they might not like it. Liberals know that for everyone to be taken care of, some might have to be a little uncomfortable for awhile, and some might have to change.

McCarthyism was bad because first off, Joe McCarthy was a two bit lawyer who made a big name for himself by destroying other people careers and lives. Second of all, he caused a lot of harm to this country by trying to further his own career. Communism did not destroy China and Russia, people destroyed it. Communism would work in theory but for the greed and defective thinking of a handful people which can happen in any society the world over. Try to get your mind outside of the box and do some thinking for yourself, instead of repeating what others have said over and over.

honestly if you're speakme approximately liberals and now not democrats, then it will have to be very open minded. But now not all academics can instruct, now not all presidents can lead, now not everybody can force however what you are are announcing is i would make a logical factor through announcing all brown eyed guys are greater drivers than blue eyed ones. Pure vanity. But i like the way you categorize an whole political social gathering below a "slim" view. That's like announcing wow, the why are all white men and women racists towards Jews. See either side a photo dude and take a few of your possess treatment and give up seeing tunnel imaginative and prescient.

The Liberal ideology is a theory which holds forth beliefs that have no basis in reality.
They are Advocates of a policy that empowers a strong government to enslave its people with a high tax burden incident to the support of extravagant and unnecessary social programs destructive to both the work ethic among the lower class, and the incentive to innovate and succeed among the working class.
The problems we face today are because the people who work for a living are outnumbered by those who vote for a living.
A democracy will continue to exist up until
the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous
gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority
always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from
the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally
collapse over loose fiscal policy

I'm very liberal, and I am proudly narrow-minded. I call it idealistic. I think more damage has been done by "compromise" which you call seeing the big picture, than by idealism.
Some examples:

1) Communism was never a threat to the US. We have communists here now, and it's not taking over. There is no McCarthyism now. Why aren't the communists taking over as McCarthy was so sure would happen?

2) big business wanted to keep MTBE in gasoline as an additive. The compromise was clean air at the expense of clean water. Now many entire TOWNS have water supplies contaminated to the extent that they can't be used, for anything! And the air is no cleaner.
3) "we got Iraq into this mess and we have to stay and clean it 3up" - well, this is exactly how we lost VIetnam, and as soon as we left, things got better.
4) Alaskan Wilderness. Big business claims we need to destroy the wilderness to ensure oil supply, but what is there might extend by at most ONE YEAR our oil supply. I personally don't think that's worth it. All we have to do to save both the wilderness and oil is to find alternatives one year sooner!

You couldn't be more wrong and you use a lousy example. McCarthy was a lying, paranoid drunk. He used an exaggerated threat of Communism in the US to advance his own career.

Communism was pretty brutal in Russia and China but it's a stretch to say it "destroyed" Russia and totaly false that it "destroyed" China, they seem to be going strong right now. The idea that communism was a major threat within the US was absurd.

Your last two sentences are very telling. You ask for opinions and then say don't give me any opinions that disagree with mine -- so who's really narrow minded? You.

Both sides of the aisle can look narrow minded. Often liberals are more concerned about freedom than security, and this is why they hate McCarthyism so much. If you look at the government set-up in the USSR, it appeared on its face to be similar to a parliamentary government like in the UK, yet you were always told they were a dictatorship, and that wasn't a lie. The catch was that they outlawed political parties that were opposed to them, which means that outlawing communism is, practically speaking, communist! (I'm using 'communist' to compare to actual governments, not the philosphy of Marx or the true definition of communism).

It is important that America doesn't lose it's ideals and values out of fear, which is something liberals will always be narrow minded about.

Actually, it isn't about a party line at all. People, by nature, are hypocritical. I know many liberals who are so tolerant of alternate lifestyles, yet rip to shreds anything they don't like about traditional lifestyles/religion and they fail to see their hypocrisy (and they do it in a very bitter way; suprisingly angry for people who claim to be so loving and tolerant. And NOT in response to a threat, but a good example is a very liberal friend who just wrote two huge blogs about why she hates a new religious movement that encourages traditional family structures. Yes, hates. She even denigrates a picture of a smiling happy family, and criticizes the happy looking children). I guess they should apologize to her for existing, huh?

But those type of examples also go for conservatives as well.

It's people, not politics.

But what you are speaking of is another country, what gives us the right to tell another country what to do? See thats the problem, you think its ok to go into another country and tell them how they should act. Let me ask you something, would you like it if I came into your house uninvited and told you how to run your family because I didnt like your views? I doubt you would be ok with it so what gives us the right to do that to others?
As far as being open minded i really dont think that has anything to do with republican or democrats, i think its the person that makes the difference. The problem i have is the people who make their mind up on something before they even hear the issue (as it seems you most likely do with the question you posted). This is just plain ignorance if you are going to simply follow a group w/o making up your own mind! You have the world at your finger tips, do some research for yourself instead of making it a Republican or Democrat, be your own person. You dont have to follow your "Gang" all the time!

McCarthyism was a witch hunt. I would hope that most people- not just Liberals- would see the tactics used by this neurotic man as unfair. Communism was never a real threat in America. It is too extreme. Do some reading on the subject.
