Marconi claimed credit for inventing radio, before Nikolai Tesla was finally recognized as its inventor.

Tesla also took the first xray, although he did it by accident and never begrudged someone else getting credit..

Edison is credited for inventing the moving picture, although only in the US. The Lumiere brothers developed it long before Edison.

Watson and Crick needed help from someone named Rosalind Franklin (think I spelled that right) to find DNA's structure, it was only with an unauthorized sneak peak at Rosalind's data that they were able to construct a good DNA model.
