Hey Briocom,

This is what it says at the first site:

"In 1830, Irving received a gold medal in history from the Royal Society of Literature in London, and also received honorary degrees from Oxford, Columbia, and Harvard. "

There was no mention of formal schooling. Wikipedia also does not indicate any formal education. Search the text for "school", "grad", and several other words - looks like home schooled wins again.
