I AM NOT ENCITING ANY RACIAL WAR OR FIGHT HERE!!!!

I wont lie, but i am racist, but only in the way every other person in the world is.........there is no single person who can say they arent racist, or have been racist. if they do then i feel that they are lying!!!
People say racist things...think racist things.....and some do racist things!!
It is all a part of life, i have been called Vanilla Face, Cream Boy, White Trash....all by black people and asians.
It is fair to say that it is part of our societies, and WE (please note i dont pick on one group we are all to blame) shouldnt get up in arms over a few petty comments like from Big Brother!!!

ALL I AM ASKING IS DOES ANYONE AGREE THAT THESE ARGUEMENTS AND SPONSERS PULLING OUT IS ALL GOING A LITTLE TO FAR. AND THE PROTESTS ETC (it seems anyone will protest over anything now adays!!!!!!)

When racism is applied in practice, it takes forms such as prejudice, discrimination, segregation or subordination. Racism can more narrowly refer to a system of oppression, such as institutional racism.

I assure you Jade and her little gang of low lifes are racist by definition of the word Racist. Its always the "racist" that says....I am not racist ...but.......

What Jade has done is applkied the same way of thinking that all racist groups and or bullies do....pick on the week...and get as much support as you can. The gullable will surely follow...ie: Dan and Jo.

Last point...when that silly Cow Davina is next infront of the camera pulling stupid faces after showing a clip of bullying and saying: Don't you just love it etc etc......I hope Cahnnel 4 is happy....with this trash TV

Granted, I'm not a fan of the show, and so don't watch AT ALL (the American version OR the UK version), AND I'm an American, and so don't get UK cable channels. The only reason I even KNOW about all this drama is a blurb I watched on Yahoo! video...

I don't know who these people are, but they just seem to be the same rude, malicious, insecure girls I knew back in high school. Their comments, while hurtful, did not seem to be racist on purpose (if that makes any sense)...I don't know the backstory on why these women are ganging up on her, but when women don't like something (another woman especially!) they need something to be catty about...if she was fat or ugly they would have made fun of that too. However, she's beautiful and has a great figure, so the only thing left to make fun of was her ethnicity.

Is that racist? Hell Yeah! PLEASE don't think I'm making any sort of excuses for them...I found the clips I saw to be utterly sad...these are the people that other people idolize? Good grief...if they only knew how small and tacky they look before the eyes of the world, they would very quickly change their tune...especially if they realized how few sponsorship prospects they will have once they get out of this house...

Sponsors are pulling out becasue advertisers are in the business of attatching their brand to easily recognizable and popular shows. They want you to think that their product is sexy, funny, an intelligent choice, the trendy thing to do...whatever...all of this is based on the show. If the show is seen as allowing, permitting or encouraging racist behaviour than the products associated with the show, by association are now tainted...whether or not the advertisers care about the situation in the house is a moot point. They'll SAY they care. They'll put a highly sympathetic statement out talking about how they deplore the situation and so cannot be associated with the program any longer. Than they'll wander off into the sunset smelling like a rose b/c they are not only no longer associated with that show and that scandal, but all anyone will remember is that this particular advertiser "chose" to leave rather than allow such behavior.

I'm sorry that you too have had to deal with racism. But the one thing you have to remember is that you, me and everyone else who has had to deal with the looks, the whispers and the rude muttered comments has an opportunity to leave, if only for a little while. There is no respite for this woman, who is apparantly has to stay in this house, literally never leaving until the show is over. I would probably protest too, just to let the sponsors, the network, and those pitiful people in that house know that in this day and age racism is not going to be accepted...no matter WHO you are.

A comment or word only has the power we, as people, give it. I remember when some words that are okay nowadays were forbidden.

One of the possible solutions I think might work is to "reclaim" words that are offensive. When I was growing up, "queer" was not a word used in polite society. Now, it is part of a huge TV show. The gay community reclaimed the word and took the ugly out of it. They re-empowered the word to a positive note. If we decide a word cannot hurt us, than the word loses pain power. I suggest that when someone uses a word that hurts, make an effort to "unplug" that word from the ugly list and start or continue a trend to make that word less hurtful. Bad language is just an excuse for a small vocabulary.

And, remember, "A man's speech is the overflow of his heart." Each person has the power to impact other people. If someone uses bad language, don't give that person the satisfaction of getting offended at the ugly word. Try to restate their comment using a better word.

If you feel like your vocabulary isn't what it can be, put a dictionary in your bathroom. Each time you sit down, look through the dictionary and learn a couple of new words. You're a captive while in the potty anyway. Make the most of your time. Vocab in, detritus (waste) out. The world can change around you, with you, or because of you.

Intention is the point of communication. Communication isn't ummm, like, I mean, just talking. Get your point across cleanly. Get what you want exactly. Words are powerful. Respect them. You might find that people will respect you more, too.

I am trying to work out whether it is a storm in a teacup or something more serious. I haven't watched the programme but I have read the comments in the newspapers.
On one hand, the reported treatment of Shilpa Shetty by the others has been pretty appalling (I certainly would not wish ever to meet Jade and her buddies) but on the other, it is only a rather infantile TV programme, so is it worth getting upset over?
I realise that I have probably asked more questions than given answers but, in spite of the fact that I feel really sorry for Shilpa and really ashamed of the others, I think I do agree that the reaction has been blown out of all proportion.

The 'Banter' in the house in nothing more then girls being girls.. it's classic play ground tactics. They aren't being racist they are just picking on the things that make Shilpa an easy target. I don't think Shilpa is as innocent as her supporters would like to think and certain Media bodies have edited what Jade said to her regarding "going back to the slums" what she really said was much different and she implied Shilpa should go into her community and meet the people who look up to her and stop being snobbish.

In all everyone is so worried about being P.C and it's well and good laying the blame with white people but Black, Asian,Green or Blue... Everyone make remarks in jest or to hurt someone. no one is innocent.

I'm not racist/discrimatory- I dislike everybody.
Shilpa probably has more education/culture/experience than the three thicko's put together.
great PR BB was losing ratings 'cause it was dull.
how exciting. 6 or 7 guys burning an effigy...that would have cost BB producers £100 or so. International outrage...
Carphone Warehouse, great PR a complete no-loss decision.

Definitely all gone too far. Everyone expects there to be some arguments in the big brother house and that is why channel 4 make it and why so many millions of people watch it. It is human nature - let it drop!

Ok so even if we all do have a bit of racism inside us, it doesnt mean we sit back and condone it when it is happening!
The sponsors have pulled out because they want to have a good impression of themselves and condemn this behaviour so that others dont feel its ok to act in that way.
Society needs good examples and they aint gonna get any good examples if we all sit back and say "Hey we are all racist in some way so let them be"!!

I don't think it's racism.....more ignorance and intolerance of class. I don't think it's anything to do with the fact that she is Indian.

They are has-beens and wanna-be's...
Shilpa is beautiful and successful in her own right.
I think Jade and her crew are jealous.
They are like kids in a playground....picking on and bullying the pretty one in the class to make her feel bad.

BB should evict the 4 trouble makers...simply for the bullying....It's a disgrace that they haven't intervened.
