All I know is that radon is the gas emitted by decaying uranium in the soil. The U.S. must have an awful lot of decayed uranium deposits in the ground because radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S., the first leading cause being smoking. I was also told by a home inspector that one small area of land, such as 500 square feet, could be affected but another plot right next to it mihgt not have any traces of radon.
