The light suddenly went on in my brain last night that when some guys are talking about having frequent sex with "straight" men, they mean the dominant member of the two-some, the one who does the penetrating, the "top." If that's the case, then it all makes sense.

What we have here is a simple failure to communicate. Am I on to something do you think? Is there a better word than "dominant" (it sounds a little too clinical to me)?

I don't think YOU know how THEY are using the word. Neither do I.

No, they are talking about str8 men that like to fool around with gays on the side.

I would suspect some of these str8 guys are experimenting, some are bi, while others are gay but living a str8 life for whatever reason.

For some people, "gay" is just about orientation. If that's the case, you can theoretically have a straight oriented man who becomes curious, or has sex with another man for other reasons. For others, "gay" refers to an identity more than the orientation itself, which means you can DEFINITELY have people with a nonheterosexual orientation who don't identify strongly with the "gay community". And they might be called straight. I think it's extremely fallacious to use "top" and "straight" interchangeably.

No we use the word top for that. What we mean is men who consider themselves straight. Even if they have sex with men.

They probably actually mean STRAIGHT! It is put in quotation marks to show sarcasm. I myself have had sex several times with "straight" men. I don't mean dominant. I mean men who live life as heterosexual and secretly have sex with gay men.

Straight nothing they are just not honest enough to admit that they are bi-sexual.

Why don't you ask the person what they meant and not us who have near no clue.
