Am I the only one who knows that there is no such thing as Intel Dual Core. I am pretty sure you are looking at a Pentium D, because a dual core processor is any processor that has two cores, Pentium D, Core 2 Duo, Athlon X2, etc. Dual Core is not a brand name. Anyway, between the Pentium D and Core 2 Duo, the Core 2 Duo is by far better, because of the FSB, and other reasons like better architecture.

Intels Core 2 Duo is the best way better than the Dual cores from intel for AMD...and yes front side bus is important.

I disagree with the above post. I think the Intel core 2 duo is allot better. Sure it has 1.8ghz and the same cache but it spits out 1066mhz in FSB. Not to mention a better architecture(design).
To answer your question, the front side bus(FSB) is a bus(pathway for data) that is used for reading and writing to memory(RAM). The faster the speed the better. For example if it takes forever for the processor to receive the instructions from the memory then that is a waste of CPU cycles that could be used for something else.....

Core 2 Duo FTW! Clock speed is not an issue. That core 2 duo will smoke the dual core. It's a newer architecture and will best dual core in ALL benchmarks.
Edit: Yeah mystic, that seemed wrong to me, but I was tired and didn't feel like pursuing it.

o.k., i will attempt to distinguish each processor product for you. The middle Duo processor are the 1st community twin middle processors from Intel. (2d in case you count quantity the Pentium D.). The middle 2 Duo processor is a greater physically powerful kind of that (that's why there a "2" between the middle and duo.) Centrino is Intel's processor for Laptops. Centrino Duo is Intel's twin middle processor for laptops (This processor is in line with middle 2 Duo besides.) Intel Pentium twin middle processors are funds middle 2 Duo's (this means they are the poorest appearing middle 2 duo's. to no longer point out they seem to characterize to place self assurance in the Pentium call for this one.) middle 2 severe is Intel's quickest processors that use the middle 2 Duo chip. it is many times the quickest obtainable middle 2 Duo processors, for this reason the "severe" in labeling. wish that facilitates.

go for intel core2 duo.it`s neat well performing processor which performs about 40-70%more than intel dual core.you could opt for core2 duo E6600 if your budget allows.

dual core is better because its got better clock speed and theres not much difference in their FSBs
