im indian and a lot of indians are fair and others are dark. Our skintones are so varied, im probably medium toned. Like you, a lot of indians want whiter complexions, especially back in the day. Now darker skins are much more accepted, i do feel like an oddball in my family as everyone is fair and im the darkest, although i wouldnt even say im very dark. I used to be insecure about my complexion but i would never resort to lightening creams like some indian and black women do. You should work what you've got. Ive been described as golden and bronze coloured by some people and i think thats a compliment. Im 21 and now i actually like my complexion. i think it makes me stand out and it suits me. If i was fairer id look mediocre and the same as a lot of other indian women. I can also get away with wearing brighter makeup, my body looks more dfined and slimmer due to my natural tan and i think darker is sexier. Ive only started to feel this way lately, before i used to get depressed about my complexion, as whiter toned indians are perceived to be more attractive by the majority.

It's so sad that everything white in this world is equated with beauty and good. Isn't white equated with death in Asian cultures?
Anyway, girl, if you continue to hate your yellow color and become a slave to whitening your complexion, you will be miserable all the time. Embrace your Asian beauty.
I am mixed-black, Native-American, and white, and I absolutely love my cafe au lait with yellow undertones complexion. The only time I would ever use a skin lightener or cosmetics is when I get acne scars, which tend to appear even if I don't pick the pimple. That's my only complaint in that department.
Other than that, white people tell me that I have a beautiful complexion and that they have to lay out in the sun or go to tanning beds to get a color like mine. Black people tell me I'm too light, and in my younger days, I tried to tan. Keeping that tan was a lot of work, and I realized that I was only ruining my skin so I stopped that madness and decided to please only myself. I look good.
Just remember this: if you are a minority, your ethnicity (i.e. eyes, nose, lips, hair, body type, etc...) will always outshine anything you ever try to do--no matter what color your skin is. Just look at Michael Jackson...poor soul...he is still a black man regardless of his whitened skin.

I'm Caucasian and hate my complexion. I don't have many acne breakouts, but the unevenness of the skin tone gets worse with age. Funny...I use a foundation with yellow undertones! Just goes to show that the grass is always greener on the other side! ;o

I'm half Native American and have a yellowish skin tone as well. We don't lighten our skin like that though, but like other American women we do mostly like cosmetics.
