What's the best way to color snow?

We have alot of snow on the way and I have always wanted to make a snow loch ness monster. We want to go all out and add color. Has anyone done this? We made a snow bunny and added food coloring to the snow for the ears and it worked well but we want to color the whole monster. I thought about using a spray bottle with food coloring. Will that work?

That's what I would do. You can use poster paint as well as it's non-toxic.
