RE:
what is the color symbolizing wealthy?

Purple symbolizes royalty or nobility but not necessarily wealth. and earlier answer is correct that purple dye was expensive and rare. So much so that in some countries it was illegal for any common person (regardless of wealth) to wear the color. "Born to the purple" means someone has royal blood

Four colors that most often refer to the expression of wealth are:

Silver: "born with a silver spoon"
Gold: "The gilded age"
green: The color of money
White: "the white glove set" "White collar"

All either refer to money or in the case of white that one does not need to labor (get dirty) to have or earn money

used to be purple not sure if that holds true now back than purple substances that made a good strong purple were expensive and hard to come by if someone could afford cloth dyed that color it was a sign of their money..... so that color became known as royal purple as only people like royalty could afford it. Now with this greed soaked society I would think it is probably green ,,,,,as in show me the money!!!!!!!

In ancient times, it was purple. Because purple dye was VERY hard to come by, it was expensive. Therefore, you had to be super-rich to own, or wear, anything that was purple.

That's where the expression "born to the purple" comes from, referring to someone who was born into royalty/nobility or wealth.
