I was wanting a new and unique fashion apart from all the other goths. So many people dress like this now that it has lost its meaning to me.

Blue...it's Gotham City, not Gothic City, haha!

Well it depends what your style is already. Painting your nails pink will not do the trick for you. That's more on the Rave and Punk side of styles. Be original and go for something that in your opinion you feel is Gothic, and it doesn't necessarily have to be black. A lot of people get confused and think Gothic is all black and strictly black and it's the dark side of Emo. Both of which are completely wrong. And you don't have to dress Gothic to be considered Gothic. One of my husbands friend had a gf that was Gothic and the first time I met her she was wearing a light pink sweater and blue jeans. But she had the mindset and the knowledge of a Goth and what one is.

Your clothes shouldn't make you. Your personality should.

I like to wear pretty normal clothes but in dark colours, instead of all the chains and stuff. An ordinary leather, denim or velvet jacket in black is a good alternative if you find the long trenchcoat too goth. As for underneath I go for my usual V neck or round neck tops and jackets, but in black or blue. For hair I do the usual normal slightly spiky look, ok for an adult in his early 20s(my hair is naturally black btw and cut shortish). For my nails I take the time to have them grown out longish and polished black(keep them rounded or squared, don't go for pointed). The way I dress means few people are ever bothered or see me as a goth, only when they're up close and notice my nails. It's a nice way to be a bit goth and not ridiculed.

I personally love the Victorian & Edwardian look on guys. Its classy and seductive. Examples: http://www.thedarkangel.co.uk/, http://www.kambriel.com/catalogue.html, http://www.dragonsbloodcreations.com/garments/coats/db_g_mens_georgian_coat.asp. But I think the most important thing is to figure out your own look, which can many things. Just surf online to see what appeals to you. http://www.sf-lilith.com/favorite_links.html has a good listing of men's gothic clothing sites, so you might want to start there.
