I know that Presidents can be impeached for criminal acts but would impeachment work for a President who is crazy but hasn't be proven to have comitted any crimes?

The 25th Amendment to the Constitution, enacted after Kennedy was assassinated, allows among other things for a President to declare himself (or herself) incapacitated, or for the Vice President and a majority of the cabinet (or whatever other body Congress provides for) to declare him (or her) so.
