I am wondering what good a business certificate does? I plan to double major(marketing+management), then get my MBA. I am also looking at getting a certificate in business from a top university such as Cornell. I am wondering if these certificates really make a difference?

If you'll be getting your Bachelors and an MBA, I don't think a certificate in business is going to help you much, at least, not right now. Better would be to get your BA, work a couple of years, get your MBA, work ten or so years, then get your certificate in a highly specialised, work-related field. Getting the cert at that point will act as an educational refresher, and may allow you to become more focused on a specific career track. But in reality, once you get the MBA, you don't need a certificate. It's not really going to benefit you - not like the MBA will.

If, however, you weren't planning the MBA, then the certificate after the BA would be a good placement. But again, the MBA will get you further.

Depends on what you want to do and who you know. My brother went to a small college in Virgina and beat out dozens of men that went to Ivy league schools- all for marketing. He had a better head on his shoulders. He now runs his own 5mil biz.Only spend the time if your goal requires it. Too much education doesn't make sense to me though. If it were a job, going to school, that's what I would love to do.
