This seems to be the new trend in my neighborhood. If the spouse wants to leave, why not leave the area? Same town, different area? Then you are in touch 5 or six times a week. Wierd to me. Do non-white people do this?

If you are still spending time with the first wife and in touch and all, it is polygamy. Sex does not have to be involved. Being white is interesting because my mexican an black friends think it it weird. My black friend who is a psychiatrist says that it is all about alleviating the parents' guilt and is not really about the kids.

It's only polygamy if the first marriage is still legally intact. If they are divorced, it's not polygamy. If the man was still married to the first wife, the second marriage wouldn't be legal and would not even exist as far as the legal system goes.

What does the color of skin have to do with anything?

It's what two loving and involved parents would want! It would make visiting that much easier, and if Joe wants to see Daddy, he can just walk down the street instead of Mom having to take him by car. If the parents get along, it would be the ideal situation.

Oh, and polygamy is defined as a man married to two or more women at the same time. That is not the case in your question. It sounds like they had a good divorce because they are still involved in each other's lives and the kid's lives. If I ever got divorced, I wouldn't want to never talk to my ex-husband again. I would hope that we could maintain a friendship, like civil adults, not like immature teenagers.

I hear about that more and more at work and am going through it myself. He moved out. Why not downtown away? Because he didn't want to give up the status of the neighborhood. I don't move because his guilt makes him continue to pay the mortgage and why should I let him have the house. He will have to sell it to get me out of it. People who do this are selfish to begin with.

It has nothing to do with polygamy! It is to do with having both parents nearby, to perhaps take responsibility for the kids!! What does being white or non-white have to do with it?

That would be way too strange for me. If my ex did that I might sell and move.
