Stephan is commonly pronounced ( Stef - on) while Steven is pronounce ( Steev - in)

They are basically 2 different names. Stephen is nice though instead of Stephan if you wanted it to be pronounced (Steev-in)

Neither. Stephan is a different name, its pronunciation sounds more french.

I would go with Stephen. Pronounced Stefen or Steven depending on what you want.

Steven is the more common spelling, so I would choose that just so that the child doesn't have to go through life with people misspelling his name or mispronouncing his name. There's enough hard stuff in life without the parents adding to it. That's just my opinion.
