I thought I was the only one that was afraid and saw these things in that way
Man it could be from me watching that Stephen King Movie IT, after that movie I begin looking at (clowns) in a way that they were evil and demonic possesed. I mean what kind of clown kills littled kids and feeds off there fear. Sick, cruel, and demented, the face paint, rainbow hair, and big feet doesnt help at all either.

I think people get scared of them b/c of the whole make up thing and the movie IT. Which I have never seen so I find clowns myself just stupid but I'm not a kid anymore so thinking there funny has worn off.
The was a CSI Las Vegas episode where a clownman was killed b/c the husband found the clown having sex with his wife. Now that made me feel sorry for clowns in general.

When I look at people the first thing I do is try to read their facial expressions. You cannot do that with a clown and all the make-up on, another reason I don't even like normal make-up on women. Anyway, that's the reason I hate and I'm terrified of clowns. It's like they are hiding something behind that disgusting make-up and it really is a heart-stopping phobia I have of clowns. I've passed out 3 times because some clown at a carnival jumped in my face and it freaked me out to the point I fainted. Now that's a REAL phobia of clowns.

It is a psychological disorder developed from infancy, an inability to see things as they really are. You know that Clowns are just folk with painted faces and plastic noses, but your brain translates the vision into a fearful experience. The hysterical use of the words "evil and scary" suggests the cause is in your head.

I guess people believe clowns are evil and scary because of such movies as IT and Poltergeist that give an evil image to clowns. They are so disguised with makeup and big clothes that no one really knows for sure who's underneath.

Scary because their faces are painted so you don't know what they're really thinking ... Read a book by that guy who write The Beach, a child was scared of the ronald mcdonald clown because he thought his white skin meant he was a zombie, and his lips were red because of the blood of all the children he ate - nice!

I always though clowns were scary and then walking in a room when my parents were watching IT when I was young made it even worst. I think its because of the excessive makeup and the dark eyes.

Clowns scare the living sh!t out of me. They always have done. Theres just something sinister about those painted on smiles, and who knows what all the face paint and fake jolliness is hiding. My brother made me watch Clownhouse once when I was about 14 and I didnt sleep properly for ages.
