As per my other question about my ill pleco. When I had a fish tank in the UK the shop there advised to add aqauarium salt when I introduced new fish. I now live in Turkey and they don't sell aqauarium salt here, is there an alternative?

Actually, you can use iodized salt. Regardless of what everyone says, iodine in table salt is just not harmful in such small quantities. Your fish would have to be pickled from the salt before being harmed by the iodine :)
So by all means use table salt is you wish, although non-iodized salt is just as good.

Even freshwater tanks can do with some salt in it when a fish is sick. If you want, you can go online and buy whatever products you need at www.drsfostersmith.com. They offer pretty fast shipping and they have a very knowledgeable staff of people that can help you with you aquarium questions.

Also, Stress Coat is really a great way to help the fish. My fiancee uses it all the time and it really helps the fishes that are sick.

A tiny bit of Sea Salt from the store will help but be careful about how much you add.

Any table salt that contains no added iodine can be used in place of "aquarium salt". That is in fact what most brands really are. Of course, you can also use the salt sold for marine aquariums.
