All you need is a two-port KVM switch (I use one made by IOGEAR). They are available from computer stores (Best Buy, Circuit City, CompUSA, etc.) Depending on what type of keyboard/mouse connectors you have (PS2 or USB), you just need to match that to what the switch supports. There is generally no installation involved other than connecting up the systems. Double-pressing the scroll-lock key is how you switch between the two systems. Most modern KVM switches also allow you to switch your sound speakers as well so you can have one set of speakers, one monitor, one keyboard and one mouse to control two different systems.

First of all connect the 2 CPU's via LAN. Use a remote admin pragram to switch into the other CPU. In this prcess you will have an added benefit of sharing the files between both.

Sure sure..very much.. I used two CPUs.. one for Windows and the other for Linux with the same monitor. You just need a switch in between which connects both the CPU cords to it.

What you're looking for is a KVM switch. KVM = Keyboard, Video, Mouse. Generally, a KVM is to control multiple pc's from one keyboard, mouse and monitor. These are fairly inexpensive and readily available. Some KVM's, though, allow multiple keyboards, mice and monitors to one pc. Make sure before you buy one that the KVM works in this way. These device's aren't as inexpensive or readily available... You could jerry rig (sp) a setup. Typically, the ports aren't easily accessible for the keyboard, mouse and monitor. Get an extension cord for each to bring the ports to your desk top (the physical one, not windows...). Then get your cables to go from the remote keyboards, mice and monitors and bring them to the extensions. Swap as necessary. Note that every cable has their distance limits so there's going to be a max distance you can go for the keyboard, mouse and monitor. If you're handy, you could buy the connectors from radio shack or similar store, and cables separately and make them yourself. Sometimes, with longer cables, it's cheaper to make than to buy.

Go to the Store and buy a system switch it will allow you to use one keyboard mouse and monitor. connect it up and the just push a button to switch. I have many here at work ranging from a 2 system one to a 16 system KVM switch. they are very helpful in server rooms and such where there isn't room for multiple screens etc..
