It means that there are more errors than the error correction algorithms can correct for. On a DVD, this is usually caused by scratches (even tiny ones, if they follow the track), or excessive fingerprints/smudges/hair/dust on the surface.

You can try gently cleaning the disk with a liquid soap and cool water. Dry with a soft cloth (wiping from the center toward the outer rim, NOT around the disk). Handle the disk only by the edges.

If that doesn't work, you can try a mechanical cleaner/scratch remover. They re-buff the surface, but they can cause more problems then they solve. Use as a last resort.

take the driver disc that came with your computer and select it in the installer files and make sure nothing else is checked. Most likely your bnary data for the cd rom drive was tampered or scrambled by you accidentally or by a virus.

Hi. You might try uninstalling it in your control panel and let the computer find it and reinstall the drivers on next boot up. "Start> Control panel> System> Hardware> Device manager>. " Find the drive you need to fix and right click on it. Select Uninstall. Click OK, then reboot. Good luck.
